The Witty Engineer

SSB Bangalore was my last attempt under TGC . As a technical graduate, I came with years of preparation—not just for SSB, but for life. Still, when the screening results were announced and my chest number wasn’t called, it hit differently this time. “Shayad yahi last memory hogi SSB ki.” I won’t lie—it hurt. A lot. Being a Technical Candidate at SSB Is a Different Battle As TGC candidates, we often come with a certain mindset—logic, structure, problem-solving. We’re used to thinking in right and wrong, correct and incorrect. But SSB doesn’t work that way. In Bangalore, I realised something uncomfortable: Technical knowledge alone doesn’t make you an officer. SSB looks beyond degrees, beyond ranks, beyond marksheets. It looks at how you react under uncertainty, how you communicate ideas, how you fit into a group where nobody cares what you studied. “Yahan resume nahi, insaan select hota hai.” Screening Day Was a Reality Check OIR felt manageable. PPDT didn’t feel bad either. But g...

World has battled a lot of difficulties during past two years due to outbreak of covid-19 which lead to huge shutdowns across the globe and catalysed the shortage of electronic chips which were in huge demand during the pre-covid era as well. Post emergence of covid-19 and in between repeal of lockdowns, the increase in demand lead to further complex situation that arose due to the lack of raw material and huge demand which could last as long as for two years to come. What is a chip? A chip is an integrated circuit which is smaller than our fingernail. It consist of interconnected circuits which is imprinted on a tiny plate or slice which is generally made of Germanium or Silicon.   Chips are so advance that it may contain billions of components on such a small surface area and plays a pivotal role in the research and development in the field of modern electronics. What is the reason? One of the reason could be the trade war between China and USA while China is the leading ex...

India has always been a place that has paved the way for new reforms throughout the world and is a young nation that is continuously setting new milestones for being self-reliant despite the fact that this nation has been ruled and looted for over 200 years by foreign powers. The fire of being self-reliant ignited from Swadeshi movement of the Indian Independence in the year 1905. India is in 74th year of her Independence and still needs a lot to accomplish to be completely “Aatma Nirbhar” or “Self Reliant”. Currently India holds one of the largest markets for the world’s business and has to work on certain areas to meet the goals of becoming largest economy of the Asia soon. India’s imports from China is five times her exports and the reason is the China’s strategy of dumping to weaken local manufacturers and later sell at higher prices to recover the loss. India’s toys market is worth Rs 4500/- crores and around 80% of them are imported from China. India manufactures 22% of ...

Quantum Computer , As the name suggests brings the idea of modern computers like mobile phones and laptops but this assumption is completely incorrect. A classical computer works on binary bit that is information is stored as a combination of 0 and 1 but a quantum computer uses  quantum bit or “Qubit” which can be 0 and 1 simultaneously. Qubit can grow exponentially beyond the understanding of human mind.   Quatum supremacy is achieved when classical computer  is unable to keep up after picking a circuit to run it on a quatum computer with increase in circuit complexity and simulating these things on a classical computer.  Modern quantum chips can process 2^53 states. Running small chunks  in the largest computer in the world  will take 10,000 years for a complete computation but a small quatum chip can do it in about 3 minute and 20 seconds.  Unbelievable, Isn’t it? What is "Quatum Physics" that made it possible? Quantum physics is the study ...

Born in June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa , Elon Musk as a child was so lost in his daydreams about inventions that his parents and doctors ordered a test to check his hearing. In grade school, Musk was short, introverted and bookish. He was bullied until he was 15 and went through a growth spurt and learned how to defend himself with karate and wrestling. Elon Musk has always been a innovative child and grew up to be the biggest entrepreneur of the decade. Let’s have a look at his achievements :- Musk launched his first company, Zip2 Corporation , in 1995 with his brother, Kimbal Musk. An online city guide, Zip2 was soon providing content for the new websites of both The New York Times and the Chicago Tribune. In 1999, a division of Compaq Computer Corporation bought Zip2 for $307 million in cash and $34 million in stock options. In 1999, Elon and Kimbal Musk used the money from their sale of Zip2 to found X.com , an online financial services/payments company. An X.com ac...

What is a Flood ? A flood is an overflow of water that submerges land that is usually dry. In the sense of "flowing water", the word may also be applied to the inflow of the tide. Floods are an area of study of the discipline hydrology and are of significant concern in agriculture, civil engineering and public health. Flooding may occur as an overflow of water from water bodies, such as a river, lake, or ocean, in which the water overtops or breaks levees, resulting in some of that water escaping it s usual boundaries, or it may occur due to an accumulation of rainwater on saturated ground in an areal flood. While the size of a lake or other body of water will vary with seasonal changes in precipitation and snow melt, these changes in size are unlikely to be considered significant unless they flood property or drown domestic animals.  Floods can also occur in rivers when the flow rate exceeds the capacity of the river channel, particularly at bends or meanders in the waterway...

Year-2020 proved to be  a disastrous year for humanity and has been claiming lives since its first case was found in December 2019 as reported.  Pre Covid era was a period when human was less worried about Medical facilities despite facing a danger as detrimental as Covid - "Air Pollution" Why is Air Pollution a threat ?  Air pollution kills an estimated seven million people worldwide every year. WHO data shows that 9 out of 10 people breathe air that exceeds WHO guideline limits containing high levels of pollutants, with low- and middle-income countries suffering from the highest exposures.  From smog hanging over cities to smoke inside the home, air pollution poses a major threat to health and climate. The combined effects of ambient (outdoor) and household air pollution cause about seven million premature deaths every year, largely as a result of increased mortality from stroke, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer and acute respirator...

United States of America has been a superpower for decades and is a democratic country since it adopted constitution in 1788 which provided world's first blueprint of a modern democracy. Since then , The American Republic has pioneered a successful working democracy , very different from the violent upheavals of French politics or the corruption of the unreformed British model. From President George Washington in 1789 to President Donald Trump in 2017 , 45 Presidents have represented the United States of America and went through various Terrorist Attacks , Cold-War  (1947-1991), Civil War (1861 - 1865) , War with Mexico (1846-1848) and a lot more but Americans proved their capability of revival. Presently , Mr. Donald Trump is the 45th president of the United States who took oath as President on 20th January 2017.Post  election of President Trump to white house the impact of of Mr Trump's decision was clearly visible with respect to Foreign Policies , The Economy , The Ju...

व्यक्ति अपने विचारों से निर्मित प्राणी है , वह जो सोचता है वही बन जाता हैं। - Mahatma Gandhi Mohandas Karamchandra Gandhi or   Bapu   was the embodiment of so many virtues and really an icon of humanity. Once he said - एक विनम्र तरीके से , आप दुनिया को हिला सकते हैं। Born on 2 nd October 1869 in Porbandar he went on to become the most loved personality in India even till today. He also acted upon what  he taught to the countrymen. He sacrificed his life to get this country free from the Shackles of Slavery .He always emphasised on non violence' equality' untouchability' cleanliness and the purity of thoughts. His words: आँख के बदले में आँख पूरे विश्व को अँधा बना देगी। are still relevant towards prevailing peace. Gandhian thoughts and ideology   is still intact but unfortunately is being sent into oblivion by those who are the supporter terrorism and supporter of the assassinator of Mahatma Gandhi. So the secular ch...

Do you know what caused the decline of Mughal Empire in India ? How East India Company tighten its grip on the administration of India ? How Indians got disintegrated due to various British Policies and How a man who returned from South Africa got Britishers out of India without using any arms or violence? Looks Interesting , Let’s Start It all started back in   1600 AD when Britishers came to India as traders in the form of East India Company with exclusive right to trade in India. Back then no one really knew what intention they really had. In 1765 , EIC obtained Diwani of Bengal , Orissa and Bihar. Simultaneously the weakened   Mughal empire worked as a fuel for the expansion of East India Company like fire.   The great Mughal Empire declined during first half of eighteenth century. The Mughal emperors lost their power and their empire shrank to around the region of Delhi. In 1803 , Delhi itself was occupied by British Army and Mughals‘s status reduced to t...

Have you ever wondered how your internet data travels to you through various mediums. Can you imagine a wire thinner than the diameter of your hair can perform total internal reflection and deliver your data on your network in appropriate form. Let’s know how this works: Optical fiber or Fiber Optics is the  medium and the technology associated with the transmission of information as light pulses along a glass or plastic strand or fiber. Fiber optics is used long-distance and high-performance data networking. But the question is how this light tavels through wire ? Now let me ask a question that have you ever heared about total internal reflections? For those who don’t know let me explain first : When the light is incident on a reflecting surface , it reflects in a certain direction. The phenomenon of Total Internal Reflection occurs if the angle of incidence is greater than a certain limiting angle, called the critical angle. In general, total internal reflection takes place at th...
