Blog #2 on Remote Sensing Technology

   Hey Peeps,

Thanks a lot for a good response to my previous blog. Remote Sensing has been my topic of interest since i was in class 10th but what i lacked was the resources for appropriate information. Here i will try my best to share whatever i can. 

Let's dive right into History of Remote Sensing Technology:                                                  

History of Remote Sensing

Remote Sensing Started back in 1858 with the help of Hot Air Balloon followed by Pigeon Mounted Camera in 1903 and Plane Mounted Camera from 1914 to 1945 which proved its importance in World War 2.

1947 was the year of immense importance not only because India attained her Independence but also due to the fact that we received first space based photo on March 7 ,1947 using K-12 camera having Black and White Infrared film from Viking sounding rocket that reached height of 227 kilometers.

Real Remote Sensing started from the launch of Landsat-1 on July 23 , 1972.

1970-1980 was the year of rapid advances in digital image processing.

1980s mark the year of the development of Hyperspectral Sensors

1990s gave us Globe Remote Sensing Sensors

2000s emerged as the years of Hyperspectral  Remote Sensing

Indian Remote Sensing:

Indian Remote Sensing has 12 optional  satellites and completed 32 years on March 17 , 2020.

RISAT launched in 2012 is a microwave satellite.   

Now that's a lot of history associated with  Remote Sensing.
